Peptic or stomach ulcers are open sores or wounds that develop on the lining of stomach and small intestine.

There are different types of ulcers but the most common include; gastric ulcer which occurs on the lining of the stomach (stomach ulcer) and duodenal ulcer which occurs on the lining of the small intestine (duodenum).
